Description

The Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona-Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) (https://www.clinicbarcelona.org/en/idibaps) is a public research centre dedicated to biomedical research, founded in 1989 to broaden the clinical research of the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona (HCB), and with a strong link to the University of Barcelona (UB). With >1,500 original articles and >2,500 publications annually, IDIBAPS is one of the leading biomedical research centres in Spain driving forward original multidisciplinary biomedical research on multiple diseases affecting our society, with the mission to translate “knowledge into cure”. The broad vision of IDIBAPS Strategic Plan is to improve the health and quality of life of citizens through high impact research and collaborations, at the highest level of scientific integrity, public accountability, and social responsibility.

IDIBAPS is an accredited healthcare research institute by the Spanish Carlos III Institute of Health since 2009, ranked in the first position in scientific productivity and quality, and holds also the recognition as Excellent Centre by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).

At the European level, IDIBAPS has a strong track record in European projects. Along Horizon Europe 44 projects have been granted to our institution. IDIBAPS has been granted 23 Marie Skłodowska-Curie projects along H2020 and Horizon Europe (10 IF/PF, 13 DN/ITN, 1 RISE, 1 COFUND).

We are looking for motivated candidates who wishes to receive a multidisciplinary training in an environment of scientific excellence. If you are a motivated researcher with high potential and ambition to advance research in the biomedical field, you are invited to apply to the MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship scheme of the European Commission programme Horizon Europe with our researchers, and get the opportunity to work and develop your ideas in an excellent research environment.

The close interaction of 100 clinical and laboratory research groups, composed by more than 460 Principal Investigators, drives forward original translational and multidisciplinary research oriented to solve relevant biological and clinical questions for human health in five main areas. Discover the research groups at the different research areas to identify and get in relation with supervisors and start preparing your proposal.

1) Biological aggression and response mechanisms

2) Respiratory, cardiovascular, and renal pathobiology and bioengineering

3) Liver, digestive system and metabolism

4) Clinical and experimental neuroscience

5) Oncology and haematology

The researchers have access to novel and first-class infrastructures available together with five own core facilities offering a wide range of services under strict quality management controls performed at all levels:  BiobankCytometry and cell sorting facilityFunctional genomicsMagnetic resonance imagingMedical statistics. Other technology platforms, such as microscopy and proteomics, are available on the Campus where IDIBAPS is located.

Excellent mentoring and supervision are offered in the framework of the research groups and its members normally interact through lab meetings or journal clubs. At the same time, IDIBAPS organizes in-house activities, seminars and workshops, promoting professional and personnel interaction (such as Stepping-stone training programme or Toolbox IDIBAPS Talks Sessions). More information about all those activities can be found at https://www.clinicbarcelona.org/en/idibaps/working-idibaps

Moreover, since 2015 and renewed in 2022, IDIBAPS has the logo "HR Excellence in Research" awarded by the European Commission as promoter of a stimulating and favourable working environment. During all those years, the institute has implemented multiple actions to further improve its Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
