Short term visa

The short-term visa allows you to enter and stay in Romania up to 90 days. This visa cannot be extended and it is of different types. Depending on this, applied fees and requested documents can vary.

The standard visa fee is 60 euros. Nonetheless, there are bilateral agreements according to which other taxes apply and some applicant categories can be exempted from payment. This applies to:

• researchers travelling in the European Union for scientific research purposes, as they are defined in the Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005
• family members of Romanian citizens, of other EU/EEA citizens , of Swiss citizens, whenever they are accompanying or joining such citizens as specified in the Emergency Government Ordinance no. 102/2005

In certain cases the applicant may need an invitation approved by the General Inspectorate for Immigration.

There is a list of countries whose citizens do not require a short term visa.
